10/12 outing

I was at a club meeting this week when TreasureFiends name came up in response to some issues with the 10/12 outing. According to the person who brought up his name, his source had told him that Treasurefiend was going to ruin it for everyone in hunting CCFP. The cops where called, bullhorns used, big group of about 50 people hunting, etc. A few people that had been to the outing(not mentioning any names) had said they where there all day and didn't see any cops and definately didn't hear any bullhorns being used to get people out of the woods. Permits where in place, from what they said for the picnic but for the most part, wasn't anything different from club hunt that we do twice a month or picnic/hunts we do once a year. Also closer to 20 people than 50.

Either way, it sounds like his source is blowing things way out of proportion but I wanted everyone to have a heads up as it sounds as if this board may be monitored and his source maybe affiliated with CCFP. I don't know how he would have gotten his info

Sounds like his source really needs to look somewhere else for attention and take a long walk off of a short pier. Sorry, I just hate people that flap their lips like that. HH

One more reason to start a club with no FMDAC affilaition. They are timid and fearful people who have bought into the modern notion of some public officials that the "public serves us" instead of "public service". One more reason why I quit the club I was with. Glad your club had actual eyewitnesses who could set the record straight.

I would advise folks to stop using terms like "loot", "plunder", "pirate" etc., etc.. Just arms the nattering naybobs in their apoplectic fit over anything not governmentally approved.

Wow. 50 people? Bullhorns? Sounds more like an abortion protest than a detecting outing, but I guess anyone jealous enough to come up with those ridiculous figures and accusations could come up with that stuff. Sorry some of you couldn't make it, but what good does it do to have a hissy fit over it?

Some people really try to take the fun out of all this. Mad that a guy half your age found more silvers than you have in ten years? And with such relative ease? It's called passion, some people are more successful at this because they enjoy getting out there and being social and having a good time. Being grumpy and cold about it is just dumb. Stop being greedy.

It's all perception, call it a preserve "clean up" and you will get a favorable write up in the tribune. Take pictures of all the trash you took out and send it to the trib and the CCFP office, I swear you will get a key to the city.....well maybe the parks!

I've been involved in other hobbies that have had "image issues" ...its all perception. However when one blow hard, that wasn't in attendance starts to make trouble they need to be taken to task.

I challenge that person to post his drivel here so we can put it to bed!

I have hunted with a lot of people this year, even Chicago Ron (the President of the club) everyone that has hunted with me knows that I don't trash an area, trespass, or anything else that would bring a bad name to MD'ng. The rumors from above ARE NOT TRUE, and like the old saying goes, "Don't believe everything you hear". If anybody wants to hunt with me, just let me know, I am always eager to learn new tips and tricks in metal detecting. Happy hunting everybody.
