1"X2" copper or brass 34 star flag dug in Va.

Help to identify this flag. I dug it in Virginia last weekend. I know the only time the Flag had 34 stars was from 1861-1863 as West Virginia was inducted then. THANKS Charlies flag.jpg

My guess would be a pin but without seeing the other side it's hard to say

It looks like a civil war era patriotic pin. I have seen them dug in early war US camps. Often they where worn by soldiers and civilians alike. You can find example in many relic books.
 

It's these type of finds that keeps this hobby interesting.
