I've been detecting many areas that are early 1800's, along the St. Lawrence between Kingston and Brockville, I found these two items and I believe the military one is perhaps British and I was wondering if the other is maybe U.S. representing something maybe 8 stars (5 point). I'm at a loss with these and I'm sure the experts will help to solve them lol. The military still has a bit of gilting left on it. Sorry I didn't reference size in the pics. The military one is 1-3/4x1 and the other is 1-3/8 OD. Ty in advance, cheers. Jon

The "hoop" is a Scottish Clan emblem border - if there were a motto it would have been spelled out around the belt. (Note the buckle and holes in the design).

But LOTS of organizations - military and otherwise - have adopted the design.

The other deal looks like it could be part of a coverall or suspender clip/clamp, the round hole would be for a unhooking a hook.

Based on what I can see of the pin attachment (brazed/silver soldered with two "ears") I would guess 1920 to 1940's. But that is a WAG based on just a little evidence. The clasp side makes a bigger difference.
