I hit a few older spots this past weekend as well as a contemporary playground area. I came up on several keepers doing it too.

I found 1 gold unmarked resized ring, a marked 18k GE (Gold Electroplate) ring. I also found a Silver ring marked 925. And a silver US Military marksman’s medal marked sterling, and it is of the expert class. These medals have classes: e.g.: A plane cross is for the marksman’s class, the same cross with the two circles/bulls eye is for the sharpshooters class, and the expert class has the bulls eye and a wreath, like the one I found. I also found 2 Roosevelt dimes, a 44 mercury dime and 5 wheats.

Four of the wheats came from a pocket spill. It was under an old blue spruce. You can see how I had to dig them out from under a thick root. The Mercury dime was found under the same tree, the black circle encompasses the area it was found at.

Hey Anthony, looks like you're getting off to a great start with your SE. You're starting to pull the silver now, and even gold. The gold ring does look like an old one too. And the marksman medal is awesome!

Fantastic!! Keep up the great work.

Thanks.

They say that’s because of this. When a silver coin that has been buried for a substantial amount and has been exposed to sulfur, it will react with the oxygen in the air when dug, that is the reaction you see. The silver actually starts to tarnish within minutes.

It’s hard work to find gold, but finding silver is a pleasure.

Yeah, and I’m glad I learned how to find those pesky signals without a processor first. Thanks.

It’s actually like real hunting. Well using the gold bug 2 is like hunting, and using the SE is like fishing.

Before I started metal detecting I had already conducted lots of historical research in my area, and I also have a keen eye to enable me to find productive spots, as well as commonsense. I don’t have a lot of book smarts but I have plenty of commonsense, and that’s what you need most of to find good spots.

Thanks and good luck.

Yeah, as you know looking for gold take a lot of hard labor. But the fruits worth it, as long as I’m healthy I keep at it.

Thanks, and next time I hope you find a 20 dollar gold coin at the pit.
