Our plan yesterday was to split our day in 2 & do 2 Roman Sites. The first site we have done twice already this year due to a failed oilseed rape crop & black-grass problem. It had a medium turn & was now nicely graded, so we did the main area for 3 hours to see what was about. 16 mostly small Roman Coins, & small pieces of lead, which is a good sign that it needs a deeper plough, but it still helped us break the 100 coin mark for that 1 field this year.
After lunch we returned to the Roman Mansio Site, where I had left half of the field (the less dense half) until conditions were flatter, because it too only had a medium/small turn. We have also had news that the land-owner has changed contractor (to another farmer we know) & they want to put it to hay & we will not be able to detect it for at least 2 years after the drilled seed starts to show. However, they will do a small turn as well.
We got 9 scrappys from this site.
Cru'dad is still being careful & only did 4 hours to my 6.
