Wm A Rogers cream and sugar bowls. I had no idea what they were (thought they were teacups) until my wife explained when I got home with them. Love the patina that has developed on them and I'm torn about polishing.

What do you think? Polish or no?

They look gorgeous just as they are............just my humble opinion............

Are they sterling or plated? Of all of the Rogers stuff I have seen, which is tons, I don't think I've ever come across any of their sterling stuff. I believe they did make some sterling but I pretty sure they made way more plate.

As long as you like them that is what matters. They don't have any real resale value though, unless they are that rare 1 in 10,000 pieces of Rogers that is actually sterling. Polishing them will let you know the actual condition. With silver plated items you get plate loss and you can't tell how bad until it is polished/cleaned up.

There is no stamp on them that would make me think "sterling" but I am relatively certain they are plated. It would seem that they have a small amount of value as antiques ($15-35) but most of the ones I see for sale are tarnished examples on etsy. That's why I was hesitant to bust out the polish.

I have a reed and barton silverplate jigger measure cup. This is what I wrote in the description.

" Left jigger in the tarnish state, some like it that way some don't. Easier and faster to shine up than to let it get the aged look as this one has".

I clean those up when I get them with Weiman Silver Cream, because I like shinny silver, but you can do what ever you want.

Not sure where you came up with a value of $15-35?

I know a b&m place that has an entire back room filled with this kind of stuff. IMO, it is worth just above scrap metal price. However, you paid $1.99, so we know it is worth at least that much...

The asking price for this specific set from what I've seen on the web. Granted asking price != selling price.
