Metal Detecting
New to the site and detecting. I've been shopping for a detector for over 40 years; just bought my first - a used Vaquero. My first day out I found $1.68 in modern coins and packed out almost 20 lbs in trash. Had lots of fun. A couple guys even asked me to help the find some silver charms that fell off a girlfriend's bracelet. I couldn't find them; the area was right over drainage tiles (2 inch sceen for rebar). In that part of Tampa drainage tiles are only a few inches deep. I don't have enough experience yet to work around the interferance. I've beed reading this forum for a few months in preparation. Thanks for all the tips - helped me decide on the Tesoro and put together my wish list for gear and supplies. Just bought a Minelab pinpointer on ebay. It should be here in time for my next excursion this Sunday.

You might consider browsing Sub-Forums: Florida for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state.

Welcome from Grand Rapids MI. It is very ironic, but I grew up in the Tampa area (Pinellas Co.) and I just ordered my own Vaquero today! Happy hunting! I bet it tears into the beaches quite nicely. I miss the gulf, but hey, the Michigan spring is beautiful too.
