Got out this afternoon for about 1.5 hours. The weather is going down hill fast but should be sunny and above freezing over the weekend, it was -3C/27F when I left the field this evening. Had about 1? of snow covering the field, the snow acts like a insulation for the ground in moderate temperatures. I started off in the middle of the field, observing where I was and knowing there was a pond just 200? away 600 years ago made me think I could actually be where the pond once was. The dirt here is also darker so it?s possible and I only found 1 crusty coin and a few pieces of trash in 45 minutes. I moved closer to where I have been detecting and found a few more keepers over the next 45 minutes. Here?s the relics, a plain old button and a large caliber 2 ring lead bullet. Note the line near the tip of the bullet. It seems to be a piece of different metal dropped into the mold.
Three coins I was lucky to find, 1912, another 1851 copper 1 Kreuzer and an unknown crusty coin. HH and thanks for looking, Mike
