A beautiful 70 degrees today in Virginia! I couldn't help but get out of the house this afternoon and head to my favorite field. It was t-shirt weather today! I made the E-trac work for about two hours this afternoon while my daughter was napping. I walked around the field to some areas I hadn't hit yet and didn't have much to show for it after an hour and 45 mins. Just a wheatie(1919) and a flat button. My wife called to let me know my daughter was awake just as I was hitting a 12-35. Told her I'd be home soon. Dug the signal and out popped a crusty Indian. Can't get a date off it though. About ten feet from there I hit another strong signal...This time a 12-38/39. About 4 inches down and out popped a small silver coin. My first thought was maybe a half dime but after closer inspection I saw the bust. Thought I had my first Barber dime outta that field, but then I realized I was holding a coin much older than that. I'd found two 1/4 cut spanish silver pieces, and a 1/2 reale cob in this field before today, but this was the first time I'd found a whole specimen. This 1794 Charles IV 1/2 Reale made my day! Kept swinging back to the car and before I made it back to the truck I picked up four more wheaties to make 5 total, and a 1926 Mercury dime. So I ended the day with a 1/2 Reale, 1 Mercury dime, 1 Indian and 5 wheats. I'd say it was a pretty fantastic day!!! :hello2:

Happy Hunting everyone!

Your 1794 is unusual in another way; it's from Guatemala; more precisely, New Guatemala (as shown by the "NG" mintmark. The "M" is the first initial of the assayer, Manuel Eusebio Sanchez. Great finds !!

I am basing my comments on Mackaydon's post, but I can say that I have never seen that mintmark before.

Nice spread of finds. Congrats on the Reale!!
