I went to a school tonight that I've been wanting to hunt for some time now. I've been waiting for school to get out so I could hunt the hills out behind the school.

I just love hunting hills for some reason. I hunted about half of the grass hill on the right side of the old stairs in about 2 hours.

I found the normal clad, (3 quarters, 1 nickle, 10 dimes and 8 pennies), a 1968 Canadian penny, an aluminum ring, a huge silver ring and a silver Rosie.

The silver dime is a 1961, it was about 8 or 9" deep, well however deep it is from the handle to the tip of my digger. The ring was only about 3" deep. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Nice finds, great ring. Hope you find enough to pay for gas for that big Chevy! Congrats.

Sweet hunt you had, congrats!
Nice truck too!

Thanks everyone!

I had a great time.

It might take all summer to pay for gas in my truck. Diesel is $4.79 a gallon here. It does pretty good though. It gets (if I keep my foot out of it) an honest 20mpg on the freeway and around 17mpg in town. Things change drastically if I go to fast or pull anything though.

hey nice finds Sparky... great photos too, if you dont mind me asking, what kind of camera did you use? talk about super clear pictures..

Nice. Which detector were you using for this particular hunt? Thanks!

Hey Booty,

I went and bought a Sony Cybershot just for detecting. It's an amazing camera for the price (under $200), it's little and as you can see, it takes wonderfull pictures. I have a case for it that goes right on my detecting belt so I can keep it handy at all times while I'm out hunting. I've been threatening to get a detecting camera every since I found that cache of dimes and Finally did it. I love being able to take pictures right there on the spot.

Hey twistidd,

I was using my faithfull DFX tonight, it's my regular. I only use the others once in a while now. I used the M6 & XLT quite a bit after I first got em just to learn the machings. I actually sold the XLT to my little brother and bought a second M6 and don't regret it at all.

Nice post and Thanks for buying American. Love the Ring!

8" - 9" on that dime was very impressive. Was that an iffy signal or was it locked on? :)

Nice place to hunt that looks like it could hold lots of finds. Looks like you got a great start, keep going.

Hello My T-Net Buddy!
I'm proud to see you out and playing; you work too hard! Lol!

Great thread and story too! Great pictures!

I own a 2006 F-250 with the 6.0 diesel engine and I'm lucky to get 15 mpg!
I seldom exceed 60 and only haul water once or twice a week. I did install a BuckBuster front bumper and 16.0 warn winch which added at least 400 lbs to the front end.

Nice going on the silver dime , and ring. You don't have to answer this question if you don't want. I just can't recognize the school from your pictures. Which one is it?

Thanks everyone!

BeachBumm,

The signal was some what iffy and a little broken at first but it seemed to zero in on it pretty good after a few small, short passes. It was strong enough to get my attention as I swept over it the first time. It wasn't registering as strong as it should have for silver but came in as a solid dime signal.

Hey GRB,

I'd like to see a picture of your truck, It sounds nice.

Hey Boris,

I don't mind telling the school name at all, it's not like I'll get to the whole thing by myself anyway. It's Marlon Hills elementry.

Great digs  I have the same cybershot, it's great , I keep it with me on trips detecting all the time.

Thats a huge hole! Very nice silver by the way! Keep up the hunting! Looks like you got a nice hunting spot!
