After 40 days and 40 nights of rain here in Western Kentucky plus the additional time for the water to go down, I finally got out for a few hours this morning. WOW and what a morning it was. It started of with what I think is an Archaic Dart Point, then I spotted what I think is an Archaic Knife within 5 feet of each other on the first gravel bar I went to. Then I moved to the next gravel bar approx 50' up stream and WOW, almost a pristine Lost Lake. I almost fell in the creek on that one. I was getting ready to leave and went to check the is small undercut and SHAZAAAM a perfect, what I think is a Turkey Tail and I did fall in the creek on this one. I am attaching some Insitu's and close up pics for your viewing pleasure. Please if anyone can add some more detailed information or a casual comment I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for looking.............KY-PAKRAT

Nice eye ball finds. The creek has been kind to them. Nice hunt!

Nice finds. I'd say what you are calling a Lost Lake is more than likely a Notched Base Dovetail and a very nice one at that.

Pakrat!! what state found in? same point, different state, different name. Terry

Let's see. His name is KY-PAKRAT and he mentions the creeks in western Kentucky, so I'm going to go out on a limb here and say he found them in Kentucky. ;D ;D

Tmodel, You kind of lost me on the meaning of your post. If this helps I think I might have setup 2 KY-PAKRATS when I registered because I checked my previous posts and my last one with the Motly wasn't there. I need to fix that, didn't meat to confuse.

1AB Hunter,

First thanks for the reply, I believe Cadiz is in Mulenburg Co. and also not to far from Owensboro Ky. My home is in southern Hancock Co. which is about 25 miles from Owensboro. So I guess I would be fairly close probably within an hour or so.

Really nice finds KY Pakrat. We are almost neighbors. I live in Western Ky also. Christian Co. to be more specific. I have yet to find big points like the ones you found but I am looking....

There are 2 or 3 really great points in there. I don't see a big difference between lost lakes and dovetails but I'm with SRV that it's a dovetail more likely than a lost lake. Great finds!

Cadiz is in Trigg County, a few counties west of Muhlenberg.
