03 09 12 River Find-- Big Blade

Worked the river for 6 hours yesterday.
My friend had found 6 pieces, and we had one hour left and I was empty handed, thinking what the heck is going on? ? ?

Just when I thought I was going to get skunked, I saw the base of a big blade, and as I pulled, the whole thing came out

A good lesson to never get discouraged during a hunt

We had a fun day out. In addition to the points, we saw deer, a bobcat and a bald eagle. Nice day.

Really nice blade! The picture of the back side makes me wonder once the crafter of the blade gets into this specific stone, does he plan the shape around the lines of colors? Or is that a patena from thousands of years? How much was the color in a stone a part of the artifact plan? This piece and others. Input please. Spook1959

That's an interesting thought Spook1959. I would think that would be very likely, but have never considered the notion
