I’ve been detecting for about 3.5 years now. I bought a vehicle off a elder gentlemen couple weeks ago & he gave me permission to hunt his property. He has only lived there a few years so he did it know much about the place. Super nice guy!
Decided to go later in the evening to...
This is a hand tooled baby bottle from the 1890's-1910's. It's also known as a murder bottle since its turtle-shape made it difficult to clean and thus a vector for bacteria which killed many babies.
I dug this brass object in an old farm that dates back to the 1700s. Its about 2" , has two small pins and a ring. Looks like a moving part from something. Any ideas?
This porcelain pitcher was made in England some time between the years 1886-1892. I excavated it, along with a matching lid, from the mud of a 1924-capped landfill in NYC, January 25th 2023. Both artifacts were complete with no observable damage apart from staining and a few light surface abrasions.
Im so excited!!! Our old friends own a beutiful, 1896 Victorian house that I've always wanted to detect. Saturday night I was given permission to hunt their yard and I was beside myself with exciment!!! Well! I hunted for about 15 minutes and then I found a really nice soild high tone. I popped...
I picked up a quadruple silver plated box - it measures - 4 1/3" length and width. I paid $10 at an outdoor fleamarket.
* It's made by Wilcox Silver Co. (see pics of Hallmark)
When you open the box, under the lid is an inscription to Saint Philip Neri.
"to the blessed sacrament in honor of St...
Victorian stove and early 1900's school desk parts! IRON RELICS!!!
Searched a nearby wooded area and came across a small iron dump. In this dump, I found parts to an Victorian era stove and parts to a early 1900's school desk! :hello2: There were even parts to an old bed frame and a tricycle...
Was out on a field/meadow today. Dug up a 1872 Newfoundland "largie" in one spot then dug a 1943 Newfoundland "smallie" in another. Today was a good day. :headbang::headbang::headbang:
A 1865 Newfoundland one cent(largie type) I found. The third oldest in my collection since my metal detecting career began. 8-)
Monarch side is still too dirty to see.:sadsmiley:
I found one notable item yesterday. Sinus drainage and cold discouraged me from looking down and walking all day. It has to be uncomfortable for me to throw in the towel. In fact, getting ready to head back out this morning. Anyway, found this on the early 1800's site where I found some...
hi all,
long time browser, first time poster. here are some recent thrift shop finds:
the porcelain (?) boy stands 12" tall and is marked 1958 on the back, with a small "SG" signature and "36" engraving on the bottom. appears to be in a French Revolutionary motif. do not believe it is...
Found this nice 9k cameo ring this evening, assayed in Birmingham but cant seem to find a date letter identical to the one on the ring. It is a small 'b' in a square with cut corners. I have included a picture of a drawing I did of the date letter as my camera wont focus in on the hallmark...
I'm selling a heavy (2lbs 10 oz), 1860's Wilcox Tea or Coffee Server. It is marked on the bottom identification marks: Wilcox , QUADRUPLE Silver Plate, Meriden Ct, 867, plus there is the crossed hammers logo. It is worn and scratched but still a beautiful Victorian piece-- elaborately...
Hello Friends,
I'm very fortunate that there's a great old-timer I know who's a family friend, and he lets me hunt his property whenever I like. It's an old house that started as a general store in the 1830s, set on about 8 acres. I've mostly hunted the immediate back yard, and every time I dig...
