I haven't ever taken the time to ID these but my husband and I have collected these over the past 5 years. Most are from East Texas but some have been found in Central Texas (and in between).
Thank you for your input on my first batch this morn,Here’s another batch ,I flipped most of ‘em over ,(there looks to me,an etched snake on the brown one ,mid first row down? Thanks again,if these are all rocks,I’m going back to metal detecting ha!
These were found in different locations, but both were in creeks in North Texas. They have a similar spokeshave-like feature, but I am unsure if this is a common natural formation, or if it is intentionally done. I have found spokeshaves before, but they are thinner than these two. Thanks in...
$300,000 in gold bullion lost in Texas during the Mexican War of Independence found in 1896 by Mexican old timer who was part of the Pack Train that was attacked by Indians. That amount of bullion today would be worth $63+ million in just bullion value alone and with antique premium for coins...
Uvalde, zephyr, and unfluted and discarded Clovis culture point. Big stack on one side but still amazing. The black zephyr point is a 4 inch 1st or second stage point. My favorite finds here in Central Texas 2021&2022
Hi everyone,
I’ve been flint knapping online ordered flint and beer bottles here in the Houston area and I’ve been wanting to make a trip out to Georgetown where there is supposed to be good quality flint. This would be my first time sourcing my own flint and I’m not sure what areas I’m...
These two objects remind me of oversized upholstery tacks, but they're to thick and heavy I believe to be that. Anybody know what these are or what they were used for? When I first found them (non-dug) my mind went straight to Texas or Mississippi, but that's just the Civil War collector in...
I wrote several of these Central Texas treasure-related articles in 2018 after I was first elected President of our Central Texas Treasure Club. At the time, I emailed copies only to dues-paid members as an additional benefit of being a member of our club. I've decided to make them public...
Hi,
I've recently gotten into the world of bottle collecting, and am wondering if I can hear a few thoughts regarding this coca-cola bottle from the experts here. I consider myself to be goodish at researching, although having said that, I haven't been able to find any Austin, Texas made...
Has anyone found any interesting Spanish Texas era artifacts that you might want to show?
I haven’t really found anything older that 1860s in the area I detect and I don’t really hear much about pre 1800s finds in Texas. Thanks:)
Hello,
Newbie here, I was wondering if anyone had any opinions or advice on this object. It was found in the sand by the beach in Sargent, TX. My dad thinks he sees a faint cross on it and thinks it could be an old Spanish coin. I can't really tell. It is very worn and corroded but it does look...
I've always loved rocks and now I think I have actually found some cool ones that may be of interest. found either on my family's property or in my driveway here at home from a load of river pebbles.
So I have this Cannonball in my possession. It’s 48.8 lbs and 8-10 inches in diameter. It has a hole on one side where somebody shoved a marble in it. Not sure if it has black powder in it or not. Anybody have any guesses at it’s worth or potential origins? I live in North Texas but it was not...
Alrighty...so we are moving next year to the Amarillo area. I anticipate the probability of building up our retirement home, which is going to leave me a LOT of time on my hands...
Any ideas? Weekends are going to be a challenge as the kids are in school...otherwise...I am free and clear...
Our Central Texas Treasure Club will host our 2019 CTTC Open Competition Hunt on Saturday, October 12th, at Allcorn Park in Brownwood in central Texas. This Hunt promises to be the biggest and best that we've ever held in our 38 year history. We will be giving away at least 3 new metal...
My metal detecting finds from May 7th - June 4th. Most of these were made with my Garrett Ace 250 except for the tungsten carbide wedding band and several of the coins that I found during a 2-hour hunt on the Coast with my 25 year-old Garrett Scorpion. I found the most modern coins of any month...
Photo I took of the nice tungsten carbide wedding band I found at Rockport, Texas with my 24 year-old Garrett Scorpion metal detector during my recent trip to the Texas Gulf Coast. I got a magnifying glass just now and looked at the engraving inside of the ring. It reads: "OLGA 08-05-06". I...
Concerning the San Saba mine. I'm not claiming to be any kind of expert here on the San Saba mine, but there are some things I've found that I would like to address. I have a first edition "Coronado's Children" by J. Frank Dobie, 1931. In this book the first 61 pages are dedicated to the San...
Here are my metal detecting finds for the month of January. I had what I think was a successful month. Although these photos don't show my quarter take clearly (on the left of the treasure tray), I found 21 quarters last month (total $5.25) which is the most I've found in one month in over...
I found a beautiful copper brooch pin that's probably 100 years old, a nice aluminum collapsible cup from Fred Harvey's Harvey House that's about the same age as the brooch, a nice round colored decorative glass piece that's set in copper, an antique set of sheep shears, a small old shovel...
I've been fascinated by treasure finds, archeology and history for as long as I can remember. Two days ago, while looking for more info on something I read re: treasure, I saw this site for the first time. I joined immediately (rare because I usually think "I should join that sometime" while...
Brownwood, Texas photo from 1904. Looking north on West Broadway which is now Center Avenue. You can see the old County Jail which was constructed only one year earlier, in 1903. I guess this is what "The Drag" looked like before automobiles took over.

These are my metal detecting "keeper" finds from June 5th to July 3rd, 2018. I found them all using my little Garrett Ace 250. I also found a lot of scrap brass and copper items which are not shown and pounds of metal trash which I disposed of properly. The top of the old bottle is...
I recently added a message from our Bloody Bill Anderson Mystery group's archives to my Blog at my Knights of the Golden Circle website whose link is below this short excerpt from the informative post. Attached is a photo of Albert Pike's death mask.

Hooray! I finally broke my silver half dollar jinx today! Found a 1914-S Barber silver half dollar, 9-10 inches deep with my Garrett Ace 250. I've been metal detecting for 49 years and a silver half dollar has always eluded me until this one popped out of the mud today. I have found a...

These are my best finds with a metal detector from March 6th to April 6th. I used my inexpensive Garrett Ace 250 to find them all except for the big wrench at the bottom of the photo. The top 3 coins are a 1901 Barber dime, a 1906 V nickel, and an 1899 Indian Head Cent. The next row of...
I bought my Ace 250, hardly used, from a friend several years ago but had never really used it as I was using my trusty old Garrett Scorpion all the time. At the beginning of February, I decided that I'd use the Ace on all of my hunts for the next several weeks and I did. I went detecting...
Here's a photo of my best metal detecting finds from February through March 6th. Center: metal teddy bear which snaps open and reveals a bright brass-colored compartment with the word "Charlie" inscribed inside, on top of the bear is a 1935 "20k (gold) and sterling" lady's class ring from...
Brownwood Fire Department in 1910. When I found this photo a few years ago, apparently no one had been able to date it. I spent several hours one night and was finally able to put a year on it by researching the travel schedule of the Forepaugh and Sells Brothers Show whose poster appears...
Hi Everyone!
This is my first post and my first time taking pictures of fossils for help with ID's. I promise I will get better!
About these fossils:
These bone fragments and scutes were found west of Houston, TX, along the Brazos River (Fort Bend and Waller Counties). All of these...
