Small skeleton key found on treasure coast beach [SOLVED] Toy key
My dad found this on the beach, im not sure what it's made of (cast aluminum, pewter?) But curious how old it might be! especially considering the ship wrecks in the area, though I dont think it's related.

I have a large heavy skeleton key. 6 inches long. Shows honest wear and heavy patina. It has a hollow stem with a hole on top. Could this be a key gun or what? It has a gap in the hollow stem about 1 1/2 inches long.

I would really like to know more about this key. It seems to be impossible(for me; the inexperienced researcher) to find out anything. My grandmother said I could have it; along with many others in the garage. Such a sweet lady.
About three inches long.
Non-hollow barrel.
