silver jockey slide

this came from an 1860' lawn, but could be older, as I also dug '25 large cent cut in half-- this piece dose not have a pin or clasp on the back, appears to be a slide. Any one know how it might have been used?? size is 2.5'' x 1.25'', silver plated thanks, da Prof--
