Is there a way to date a shell casing? I know very little about this. I recently acquired what is supposed to be trench art from the war. It is a kind of necklace made from 9mm shells and copper. Shells are stamped D l 42 9 mm. Would the 42 stamp have anything to do with the production year. May...
