Found and Recovered this Tallahatta Quartzite point here in Simpson County Mississippi. Found this point along Strong River. This has to be one of my favorite lithic materials we have down here in the South.
These two objects remind me of oversized upholstery tacks, but they're to thick and heavy I believe to be that. Anybody know what these are or what they were used for? When I first found them (non-dug) my mind went straight to Texas or Mississippi, but that's just the Civil War collector in...
I'm just getting into the hobby and still researching detectors! I currently have an old Whites Coinmaster 2900/D Trooper, but I think it's time for an upgrade.
Would love to get advice from anyone willing to give as far as site research and detector recommendations. I'm currently leaning...
Howdy to all!
I recovered this piece on 12.15.2019 in Lamar County, Mississippi and I am hoping that some of y'all can help me to identify it and maybe even post a picture of a complete one. The Penny in the pic is for size reference only.
This little Sterling Silver Pin was recovered on November 3rd, 2019 down in Brooklyn, Mississippi. I have been unable to determine what "SEL 23" stands for and am hoping that some of y'all can shed some light.....

I recovered this small button on October 30th, 2018 in Copiah County, Mississippi... My initial thought was a small Great Seal Button, but I have been unable to find any supporting pictures online. At the top where the stars are in the circle on Great Seal Buttons, this one has 3 other marks...
I'm new to prospecting and was wanting to know if anyone out there knows if there have been any finds in southeast Mississippi. I heard that Alabama would have a better chance of getting some color but still wonder if we're missing some here. I panned my first bucket of earth today and didn't...
Hi all, just joined the forum and hoping to tap into some of your wealth of knowledge. So here's my story. My family has land in Ellisville, MS. (a few miles southwest of town), and although I do know a pretty good bit about the history of Ellisville, (the Knight stories, and a little bit about...
When I 1st saw this just as it came out of the ground, I thought it was a Bayonet, but I have been unable to verify this... Anyway the round end is hollow and threaded, and I think the hole on each side of it is for a pin, but that is just a guess... It also has 3 sides/blade/vanes... So come on...
I thought this was just a typical Great Seal Button, but I was not aware that they came in Different Sizes and Shapes, this one is smaller in diameter than the one I recovered just a few days earlier and it has more of a dome to it than the other one. This one is made by N.S. Meyers Inc. The...
I recovered this Great Seal Button in Petal Mississippi today 10.06.2017... It has D.Evans on the back and the word Attleboro on it... Anyone know the year or range of years this particular button could have been made???
I recovered this earlier today(10.05.2017) in Petal, Mississippi and am curious as to what the initials stand for and if it is a Pin, Button, or something else... As always Thanks Y'all...
I'd like to know what this Goodyear tag was used for and what era it is from if anyone knows. If someone has a picture of one in good shape or if it was on something a picture of it on that item i'd like to see it... This one was found in Petal, Mississippi on 10.03.2017... Thanks Y'all...
As I was looking for a way to find land owner information on a few old homesites I was interested in, I came upon this website: https://atlas.geoportalmaps.com/
It has a list of different counties in Mississippi and even Louisiana. I'm not sure it has every county available though. You can use...
:zoom:Can anyone tell me if there is a good source or sources for information on old Water Mills? My primary interest is South Mississippi, and the more info/pics the better.
Hello guys I'm here in the diberville/biloxi area looking for any other metal detectorists that may have better ideas of the where and where nots to digging in the area.
If anyone is from the area I'd also like to see about arranging some kind of meeting to detect with another enthusiast...
This is a small buckle I recovered today(01.31.2017) in the Free State of Jones aka Jones County Mississippi. The property could have had people on it previous to the Civil War. The little Buckle measures 1/2" X 13/16" and appears to be made out of copper with no markings that I can find. I'd...
This is was my 1st hunt of the year and my 1st GREAT find... It's "3 in 1", because it was my 1st Non Costume Jewelry Ring, My 1st ever Real Gold Find, and My 1st Ever Class Ring. That said, try and imagine my excitement and of all days to be hunting alone, this was one of them.
Thanks to a...
I found this old aluminum 5 cent drug store token yesterday and am wondering where I might be able to find more information on it. It's from a drug store in Richton Mississippi and was valued at 5 cents, the name of the drug store was either Walkers or Walters as I have been unable to clean it...
I just recently acquired a Whites MXT Pro with the original 950 Coil. That said I am hoping some of you with experience with this detector can help me out by sharing any advice you have on both the good and the bad about this detector... Also what would be the best coil to use in trashy...
This was found in a creek in northeast Mississippi, in Columbus, which is near the Alabama line. I was told that it was probably a Native American ink pot, but it was not an expert that identified it. I've spent some time on the Internet trying to find a photo of something similar and I've...
Newly christened treasure hunter on the river banks and in the swamps in Louisiana. I visited my brother in West Virginia a couple of weeks back and we ended up purchasing a MineLab Etrac to scour the land for valuables. We came out of the week with unidentifiable metal pieces, small copper...
I'm curious about where to go around Jackson?
I thought about some of the parks but can't find much on the permissions issues. Maybe the reservoir would be good?
Anyone have any regular spots they go that they are willing to share? I'm up for a group hunt too.
