2 meteorites?
roughly 5cm in diameter each
.
Extremely magnetic found in the desert Saudi Arabia,
both are positive to the nickel test.
Both are have a strong metallic shine when cut.
Very dense.
One of the meteorites looks like it has olivine veins in it. Are these meteorites and if so...
Hey everyone,
Hoping ya'll can help me understand the difference between a meteorite and natural iron. I doubt that I'm lucky enough to have found an actual meteorite but how does one tell without being able to cut it in half to look at the internal structure?
I've attached images of a "rock"...

Any ideas on this?
I keep hearing "vesicular basalt" but this has me stumped. Found near Lone Mountain Nevada yesterday evening, was the ONLY rock like it within my field of view. It's heavy for it's size (about as heavy as 2 cans of pepsi), has what I think is a very worn fusion crust, has...
Found in Hayden, Colorado at an excavation company's yard. Could've been brought back to our yard from Arizona as well because we've worked around the western US (mostly Co and AZ) since 1944.
Not magnetic.
Does not leave a mark on white paper.
Very light weight for its size.
One side looks...
Meteorite or rock?
Found this today kind of looks like possibly a Chromite meteorite but not sure so hoping some one could help. Browsed some pictures of
small Chromite meteorites on google images and seen some similar.
Dimension is about 1.5" diameter and about 40 grams heavy.
Not magnetic...
Hi, I've found a black meteorite but I'm unable to identify its type. I did many test to make sure that it's a meteorite and not a meteo-wrong. and it seems to be a real meteorite piece. I would be much grateful if you can help me out with this matter. I would like to know how to price it? and...
I found this out of 14 tons of rocks when I was landscaping.
Out of the 14 tons of rocks I've never seen one that look like this.
The density feels like a meteorite.
Thanks!
I am a novice rock collector and found this unique rock (?)/ meteorite (?) in Death Valley. I am unable to identify it and can’t describe it except to say that it’s very heavy, with unique ridges. The lighter part with “bubbles” would have me say that it’s not a meteorite. What do you think?
There is a magnetic hanging from the rock in both pictures and it's extremely heavy. Doesn't have rust so I'm wondering if anyone can help point me in the right direction to identify.
I found this on top of a hiking trail in Santa Clarita, California. I’m not sure if that is fusion crust, but it passed the magnet test. I also did a scratch test on the back of a tile and it left no marks. The rock is also very heavy compared to another one of it’s size. Any input would be...
My English is very bad, please forgive me.
This is a rock found on the Gobi in Xinjiang, China,The density is 3.4g/cm3,It can be slightly attracted by magnets, Is it a meteorite or a rock of the earth?
I saw it in the middle, and one of the faces was polished.
This rock is at least 3.5 times the weight of a normal terrestrial rock. It leaves no streak whatsoever on an unglazed tile. It appears to have metal flakes on the inside. I can’t believe I don’t have a magnet! So not sure yet on that one.
I found this in a ditch by a tall dirt wall created by erosion. Way out in rural southeast Alabama far from anywhere. I was hunting for arrowheads. I found a broken one and some petrified wood that fell out of the earth overtime and into the ditch where water washed down a hill. I saw this and...
I have an eyewitness to the fall of the meteor in 2005. Now trying to find the wreckage. These are two (total six) fragments found nearby. They were found approximately at a distance of a kilometer from my first find. Do these look like fragments of a meteorite? I would be grateful for any opinion.
Hello. Dear users of the forum , please tell me, is this a stone- meteorite? Found on a metal detector, sounds mostly aluminum. The specific gravity(in the metric system) is approximately 3.1 (measured at home), weakly magnetized (stronger on rust). On the cut are visible metal "chondras" that...
u
Magnetic
No streak
However I don’t think meteorites fracture like this on the inside.
Any chance here do you think of it being a meteorite?
And sry, I posted same picture twice! ???🤷🏼*♂️

Basic tests so far/ observations
Small black crystals are seen on the surface of the stone
Is partly magnetic. Holds a magnet to the surface.
Scraped the white/pinkish crystals to get a powder, and used vinegar to test for calcium. Tested side by side with...
Thanks in advance for any input and opinion on what this may be. I found this while landscaping laying mulch, as we were emptying a trailer load of it into wheelbarrows. I heard a "ding" on my shovel and immediately investigated only to find this oddly intriguing stone.
~7cm^3 volume : 54g...
Found this doing mulch, thought it might have been slag metal that went through a chipper but a sample prepper told me no way. It's iron. Hoping it's iron nickle. Lmk what you speculate. 54 grams 7 cm^3
Hi everyone, new here. My father recently found this rock that he think could be a meteorite. It’s very heavy, about the size of my hand. It attracts magnets in some spots. Do you think it could possibly be a meteorite? Thank you.
So I have the opportunity to purchase 2 Sikhote-Alin Meteorites one is roughly 37 grams and the other is roughly 32 grams - I would be paying 80 dollars total. Do you think that's a good deal on them?
