Got out for a short hunt yesterday on the farm near my house. Dug a great sounding signal on the legend, and this popped out. I believe it is military, but not sure. The legend on the top says "First In Last Out." It was made by N.S. Meyer Inc. in New York City. Meyer Inc. was famous for making...
This is a WWI Croix de Guerre I found on 10/25/23. These medals were issued by the French government starting in 1915 for acts of heroism during combat. They were commonly issued to foriegn soldiers allied to France.
Was bottle hunting today in my 1924-capped landfill when I found a 1917 French Croix de Guerre. It is 106 years old and has been buried for at least 99 of those years.
In situ:
It was in one of my spoil heaps and had been washed out by the recent rains.
This find substantiates the stories...
I found this item in a park in Australia that used to be a training camp for WW2 soldiers.
I have found a lot of stuff relating to WW2 in the area from bullets to buttons to badges.
It may not be military but given where I found it I figure it could be.
Its made of lead with what I think is...
Sorry I do not have scale. About the size of a silver dollar. Can anyone please identify this medal or pendant? Found in north Alabama. Plain back. Appears to be brass.
I was recently given a medal/medallion/necklace of some sort? It was found metal detecting here in Virginia I believe. I live on the Lee's Retreat Battlefield but I dont think it was found right here?
It is a silver dollars size. It seems to be lead or iron or something I am not sure. It is...
I got this medal at an estate sale in the Pittsburgh area. The man who owned it was a Mason however I have no idea if there is a connection. It does not seem Masonic to my very untrained eye. Everyone who has seen the medal agree that it definitely seems to be old. Appx. 2" x 2.5"
Can...

I recently purchased a Finnish Winter War medal off of the internet and was wondering if it is indeed authentic or just a replica. I'm a novice when it comes to collecting medals but it was a very cheap find so I decided to take a shot in the dark on it. All I know is that the medal is from...
I recently bought a WW1 Iron Cross 2nd Class off of eBay. I have an authentic WW2 Iron Cross 2nd class so figured a cross from the first world war would go well with it. However, when I received the medal I noticed that it appeared thinner than my Iron Cross from WW2. I tested the core, which is...
I recently purchased a bundle of German medals online. I am familiar with all but this one which is titled, "Wilhelm II Deutscher Kaiser" on its front side. I know that similar coins or marks exist that share the same imagine of the Kaiser on the front side, however this item has a loophole as...
Hi all, we dug this brass item yesterday. About 1.5" long. Can't quite find anything like it online. Any ideas? Note the hole in its side--not made by someone trying to hang it as a locket, but forged when the item was made (as you can see by the homing on the underneath). In the group photo...
I hunted a friend's yard this morning which is about 30 minutes outside of the city. The house was built in 1918 and to the best of his knowledge it had never been hunted so I was hoping to find some silver. As always, I brought a 2nd machine machine for the homeowner to give a try. While...
Found detecting today. Reminds me of a horse brass medallion but not sure because of the opening at the top. May of been on a ribbon necklace. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks
I got this medal some time ago and just recently re-found it anong my stuff.I would like to know the language or what the medal was for...The top&middle bar has griffins and appears to be celtic knots. The medal although NOT marked appears to be silver but could NOT be but it look's well made and...
I recovered this object from an empty lot next to a school in Indiana. There used to be a home there in the 1950's. The item appears to be made of brass and is quite ornate. It has a crest in the middle showing what appears to be a king's crown and a queen's crown along with two crosses...
Found this metal detecting! Says TENNESSEE it's brass with patina! Could it be from the civil war? Firefighter medal? Please help! Not sure what I've got!
Bulldog watch fob??? I need help...can't figure out what this is
I found this some time ago in northern CA and have never been able to find it's origins? I found it in a very old dump and thought perhaps it was an old watch fob.

Yesterday, I went to a local thrift store to look around and see what they had. I got there a little before they closed and just had enough time to look around. All the way at the end of a row of glass display cases I saw a box marked "Purple Heart". I didn't have to time to investigate or...
Has anyone ever seen one of these medals or one similar come up for sale? I'm curious to know if this is a rare piece or a common one. I think it's gold! Any ideas on value other than gold weight? Thanks!
