Found in CT would like to know anything about it 2 Piece no back mark visible

I got this medal some time ago and just recently re-found it anong my stuff.I would like to know the language or what the medal was for...The top&middle bar has griffins and appears to be celtic knots.The medal although NOT marked appears to be silver but could NOT be but it look's well made and...

This was found in a wheat stubble field (man that stuff is tough to detect in!) in Somerset while detecting with my friend Geoff the Chef. He spotted the griffin and said it was a livery button. I'm not sure if you can see the griffin in these scans...let me know and I will try to outline it...
