well to start off ... I FOUND SILVER!!!! A 1948 Washington Quarter.
Keep in mind finding silver where I hunt (civil war relics in metro Atlanta) is very rare for me. Last silver was a 1964 Washington Quarter 2 years ago.
Did the 10 x 5 find it? yes. Would the stock coil on my 800 probably. It...
Hey detectorists, I thought I'd start a thread to share some of my detecting videos for those that may find interest in them.
Thanks in advance for checking them out!

Been away from the forum for a while. My 800 was purchased in the Spring of 2018 is out of warranty. No worry, I feel Minelab will treat me right if the time comes I need a repair. I am thinking it is way too early in the product life cycle of the Equinox 800 for a Minelab successor to the...

Clive’s book is a must for users of the Equinox. I highly recommend reading this book. Beginners to advanced users will find valuable information in this latest book.

Any comments on the Detect-Ed Red Belly LS Carbon Fiber Upper & Lower Shaft for the Minelab Equinox 800? Doesn't seem like a ton of weight improvement but maybe more rigid?"
I have a permission on about 1 acre site that was the location of very heavy CW battle area in Atlanta. These are very rare and hard to come by.
I have the Nox 800. Of course I am going to hunt this area very slow. It is also has a very small stream that I will hunt also.
which coil would you...
Hi everyone,
So, I am trying to make a tough decision between a few detectors. So, I went metal detecting on Sunday and my Garrett at max, which has been a wonderful machine to me, decided to do some wonky things and I called Garrett the next day. I'm going to send in my metal detector and...
Hello all! so I purchased a Nox 800 off of amazon 2 weeks ago (finally moving up from my Ace 250) and as soon as I assembled it and went to hit the power button....a whole lot of nothing happened. so I tried it again and again, after about 20 presses of the button in different spots it finally...
Ok, on some occasions the 800 pinpointing feature was off by about 8". It has happened enough that I don't think the fault is always mine.
So wouldn't it be nice if we had a handheld pinpointer that when you held it vertically it would locate precisely a coin sized target 9" - 12" deep. Now I...
I have located two gold mines that I have access to after much research.
one mine about 4 ft tall in the side of a hill and has a nice pile of quartz rock tailings pile. rocks are about 12" wide. Should I remove all of the larger quartz rocks to get down to the smaller rocks before I hunt with...
On another forum a Equinox user posted this:
He stated: "I found that a lower sensitivity (13-18) was best when paired with a recovery speed of around 3-4 and an F2 setting of between 5-7. Those were the “sweet spots” for me that day at that beach."
Are there any general relationships between...
Hy folks !!! :hello:

I just took my Equinox 800 out in front of my house to test various settings on various objects. In front of my townhouse, there is a sidewalk. Between the sidewalk and the curb, there is a narrow strip of grass may 1.5 feet wide. I did a auto noise cancel. Then I did an auto ground balance...
I met up with Matt Pfeil, a fellow YouTuber and TreasureNet member, yesterday and took him to my favorite beach here in Korea. We seriously hit the motherload and found like 100 coins in a two hour span. This was after four hours of detecting in muck just to find sinkers. I have never found this...
So I just bought a new Minelab Equinox 800. My first time out was definitely a challenge. I was hunting with a Minelab Xterra 705. I had a lot of jumpy signals, nothing that I am accustomed to hearing from the xterra. I'm sure it's a learning curve. I documented my first hunt on youtube, maybe...
Got off work had a couple hours of day light on Thursday. decided go look for my Great Dane duke’s collar he lost on our last hunt. brought my equinox 800 with me for the hell of it. within feet of turning it on first hit bronze spike by a tree stump. freaked out for a min haha then looked...
Field 2, sens 19, 50 tone, recovery speed 4. Noise canceled and ground balanced. Note this well hunted soccer field was almost a 100% iron free environment. (and many thanks to the forum members who alerted us to the 4 recovery speed setting for the 15” coil).
Found three zinc pennies at 5-8...
My last detector was an AT Pro for three years and various detectors back to 1988.
When I sold my AT Pro and bought my Nox 800 in March 2018 I was quite surprised at what I didn't about detectors in general. The 800 took a long while of study of forum comments, Clive's two books and many hours...
I have decided to purchase the 15 inch coil and have placed the order.
I have thought about my type of hunting, coins in parks and relics in trashy parks (not national or state) and how the 15" will help.
main benefit for me is coverage. Lot of the parks have nice flat open spaces and same...
I thought I'd share some items found today and last week. These were all recovered from a curb strip next to an old school I like to hunt. The Newfoundland 20 cent piece ( .925 ) is definitely something I didn't expect to dig! It didn't even ring up or sound like you would expect a larger silver...
I have been using an At Pro for the past 3 years but I'm thinking of moving up to a minelab. I'm looking for better discrimination and technology to try and rediscover some of my older spots.
When I hunt with my friends who both have etracs I feel like they are getting the deeper targets more...
I have the Equinox 800 and when you manual ground balance you can get a number between -9 and 99. So I assume that a reading of lets stay 88 is highly mineralized soil and a reading of 1 or -9 is no mineralization.
am I on the right track? seems the manual on page 40 says nothing about what...
will be taking my Equinox to areas of a major CW action that I have permission to hunt. I have 3 years experience on the AT Pro, and now have an Equinox 800. (Sold the AT Pro).
I have about 30 hours of hunting experience in trashy parks on the 800 and I am comfortable with adjusting the...
Ok, I think I have seen the answer to this question but cannot remember. On the Equinox 800 I think I read somewhere the tones and TID's are based on the difference between the ground and target.
So if detectorist A is hunting in ground with more mineral content than detectorist B would not a...
A metal detector’s unlikely find on the shores of Huntington Beach helped an Olympic gold medalist locate his lost commemorative ring Wednesday.
Leon Jones of Buena Park found the Olympic ring earlier this week during one of his usual outings using his metal detector to scan for unique...
Hunting a trashy park. will discriminate 22 and below. will be using my new 6 inch coil i received on July 20, 2018.
I have read using discrimination will reduce the effective depth on the 800.
Is that true?
If so then i could just set two tone breaks with 1st tone break last position being...
in my research found a nice little creek that goes right though a major civil war battle area in an urban area. It is about 200 yards wide and 1,000 yards long between two old residential streets. From street level it is about fifty feet below to the bottom of a small creek with steep eroded...
I have my Equinox 800 so one assigned tone break is 16-19 for civil war bullets.
but a large old style pull tab rings up a solid 16.
so is there any other way to overcome this problem or do I just have to dig all 16 TID's.
john
Just dug a 1 foot trench and then in the trench wall drove stakes in about 2" at the 6" depth and 12" depth parallel to the surface and place my targets in these slots.
My backyard in the trees for the test trench has about 6" of sandy soil and then solid red clay down lower.
I Can hit all my...
I have the wireless bluetooth head phones with Nox 800. I have been using them but find they produce soft or seemingly to my ears more muffled tones.
Also included in the box was the WM-08 transmitter.
Is the WM-08 faster or better latency than the minelab bluetooth headphones for the nox 800...
Ok, have had my 8800 for about 3-4 days now. Have taken it for a few hunts in trashy areas. Now ready to tackle the settings.
I have compiled my TID list from many people on this and another popular metal detecting forum. Have confirmed most of those settings with my extensive junk box and some...
Got my new Equinox 800 in and compared weight with AT Pro.
The Equinox 800 using blue tooth weighs 1.2 lbs less than the AT Pro using the Z-Lynk wireless module and both machines using stock coils.
So it is a lighter swing compared to what I was used to with the AT Pro.
Hello everyone,
I'm jumping head first into this hobby, and I'd prefer to start out with something decent right out of the gate. I'd originally considered the AT Max, but I think the two in my title would be much better options to last for a long time.
Back to my question, Equinox 800 is out...
