It has only been 3 weeks since I posted my first ever Spanish silver coin, an 1818 Ferdinand VII coin. Well here I am again somehow posting an even better coin that I found in a different field a few miles away! I'm absolutely stoked. This is easily my best find now, and the year 1776 makes it...
I came across a bunch of metal buttons. Not sure if they are trash or treasures. In the picture, the bottom is the front and on top is the backside. Any info would be great. Thank you for your time.
I am new to this and do not know much about Buttons but I have so many now from an estate and I am curious! Can anyone help me identify them and if I have any of value here? This is just a small variety of what I have!
Here are photos of the front and back of the buttons, text on front of first button (IMG_3251.jpeg)reads "Excelsior" along the bottom and has 13 stars along the top. The backside (IMG_3253.jpefg) reads " SCOVILLE MFG CO WATERBURY" along the top and "State of New York" along the bottom.
The front...
So, Ive hunted alot now that I am in Va, as well as while fixing a door to the dirt basement came across a circle dent in my outer wall- there was a battle nearby within a few miles of my home. The age of my home I am unsure as its got many add ons to it, but it does look like it got hit by a...
My husband found this button in our cow field today in VA! I can’t find much info on it, but finally saw it says “Solidite Paris” on the back. The front says “H.G Fledderman” and something else like “Dalto” ? I can’t read it well.
Any info or history on timeframe of this or where it would’ve...
Hey guys, while out detecting I dug these all from less than a square meter, makes me think they’re all from the same piece of clothing?
Either way would love any info/history on them if you can 😊

A day off work today, so despite the chilly temps and the frost on the ground, off we headed.
Today we went to the fields near the river, just outside the village, the field still has the ridge and furrow lumps and bumps in it, got a nice mix of bits nd bobs, buttons, musket ball, lead, I found...
After the truck breakdown last week, we were determined to have a good day today and we boy did we!
Tonight for your viewing pleasure , we have a selection of buttons, buckles, a dog tag and the rim of half a pair of specs (?) a button with a toggle rather than the usual loop.
Some cutlery...
With great excitement we set off bright nd early to at last go back to the field where I found my greatest treasure…… but the pheasant shooting season has started and the gates were locked 😕 so we scrambled for plan b, some stubble fields that are going to be contracted out, so our last chance...
Today we wanted to go to a possible Roman site on our permission.. but it still has stubble on it.. but Himself wants that Roman 😬 .. so we gave it a go! He found a hammered .. no id yet?! Usual buttons, lead bits, and possible Roman bits?? 🤔 We def need to go back to do it properly when there...
we only had an hour tonight so a quick waddle around our favourite field and it doesn’t disappoint! We have had lots of rain in the last couple of days, so digging was a joy! No idea what this little silver thing is… but its got a hallmark! Musket balls, lead, buttons, a thimble and other...
New field, new finds😆 Himself detected this blade. After that excitement, we settled into a full day detecting. some lovely buttons, some different lead things (?) crotal bell top, thimble top and something that looks like a ring? Fits my finger perfectly! we picked up this stone, just because...
Because we can’t resist and the digging conditions are perfect atm, we went out this evening to finish the fields we have been doing this week.
This gold button was my last dig as the light was fading I saw the gold nd nearly dropped my pointer, ok so not a coin, but it sure is pretty. The...
Wow the nights are really drawing in here, but we managed a quick swing.. our first whole Crotal Bell, some bits of metal, circular one is heavy(?) Little buttons, and lead couple of musket balls, what looks like a squished lid (?) and a strange little bit that looks like a seal 🤔 xx
We managed to fit in a quick swing tonight, after yesterday’s rain the field was perfect for digging! I Went off into a corner of a field and it was button central! Then this little beauty popped out 😍
As the light started to fade we headed back to the car… and I got the best signal of the...
Last day of the “detecting at home holiday” was another perfect day.
The usual lead (the big chunky one weighs 269g…) . And another belted round thing (found one in another field a few weeks ago). Nice range of buttons again.
Some metal bits, and then a new livery button, a strange piece of...
Day 3 was a beautiful cooler day and a new field, we were looking for an old path shown on early 1800’s map.
More beautiful buttons, a livery button made by Firmin shows a lion holding a sword and possibly a Fleur-de-lis? A ring, a small trade weight, pot fragments, spatula type thing… and 2...
Found this Wahams & co "Superfine" button with what appears to be a otter standing on rocks near a waters edge. Was told this particular button wasn't in the "big book of buttons" and could be a very valuable specialty collector piece and that it can be dated back to late 1700's, early 1800's...
MASSIVE SILVER brooch, Amazing Relics and MORE!!!
So it's been a long, long while since I've posted anything!!! So in stead of making a post about each treasure find I'm mashing them all together. Sorry pics aren't going to be as nice this time.
At the 1800's place I found a glass button and...
Hi Friends,
I recently found a small boxful of buttons and I am wondering if anything here stands out. They all look pretty good to my eye, but I'm no expert and I know that there are a lot of repros in this space. Besides 1 and 2, all the backs are the same and are plain base metal with no...
I hope everyone is having a pleasant Saturday. A friend of mine found this button detecting and we haven't had much luck identifying it. I seen an older post from 2013 of someone finding one similar, but no answers on that thread. Can anyone identify this one? You'd be doing us a service...
Hello,
I have my Grams old button collection. A few military buttons that I have looked up are from the 1800s, there is a page of black jet buttons, I'm sure some baklite ones are in there and some glass, some hard rubber etc.... I am wondering how I might go about getting this collection...
Got out Yesterday to a permission of a house that was built in the 90s but built on an old farm field. Turned up my first Large Cent of the year and first ever with the ORX a few buttons and my oldest find to date a mid 1600s - mid 1700s Saddle Pommel. I didn't find many examples on Google so I...
I found this in an 1806 town in Ohio. I've looked, but I can't seem to find any eagle buttons such as this one with the eagle facing right, with infantry in the middle, also with a backmark that reads "Ives Scott" on the top and "Waterbury" on the bottom. Any information would be highly appreciated!
Hi,
Went out detecting the last couple of days and found a few coins and these items as well.
Does anybody have any idea of what I might have?
*. I understand the pocket watch, but I wanted to identify it further - with your help.
* Not sure of the small container?
* Could this button be...
Finally got the family out metal detecting with me. Our schedules are always so busy it is rare that we get the time set aside to do this. That was nice.
This was my first permission hunt. My in-laws have several acres that used to be part of a sugar cane plantation. I didn't find anything...
