button civil war

Pulled this 2 piece button out, thought it was a coin at first. The front of the button immediately separated and fell to the ground where it broke in half. You can barely touch it without it disintegrating, bummer. Any help with ID would be appreciated. Amazed to see the thread is still...

I found this while metal detecting in a dried creek bed in Ottawa County in Michigan. Any idea of the age and if this is military? Looks like a crown, maybe some crossed rifles... or hockey sticks... we are not too far from Canada ;)
