brass tag

This appears to be a brass tag which was found near an old bridge site on a small creek in NJ that was active from the 1750's until the early to mid 1900's. It weighs .324 oz or 9.20 grams and measures 38.4 mm in width. One side is blank, but the words "DARM LATT" were seemingly hand etched...
