Firstly, my apologies for the horrendous photos...I was at my mother-in-law's house this weekend and I only had my Nook (Samsung) with me. I will try to get some provenance from her in the future, but do you have any advice on these pictures? The first one appears to be a painting/print with some sort of signature. The second one is made of cloth, like it was sewed ( I don't know the exact term). Thanks.

The embroidered silk painting should be worth somewhere around $30 - $40. You might be able to get more from ebay.
The print is likely worth somewhere around $20.
 

The second painting I can give you a translation right away. The chinese is 一帆风顺 yī fán fēng shùn. It's a Chinese idiom that means: Propitious wind throughout the journey. It's translated also as smooth sailing or have a smooth trip. As you can see the junk boat is leaving the village. Hope this helps.

As for the first painting taking a quick look the "script" and the stamp are the same characters so it could be the artists name which looks like 旨元.
