Hello from America, I found this article that may interest you guys. A plane carrying 6 tons of diamonds crashed at this airport in 1955.

"London, Sat: Diamond experts today found
many diamonds in the charred wreckage of
the British Stratocruiser which crashed at
Prestwick Airport on Christmas morning kill-
ing 28 people.
Most of the gems are believed to be part of a
£1,000,000 sterling cargo of diamonds for New York.
They are discolored by the heat of the fire which
broke out when the airliner crashed.
No estimate is available of the total number picked
up by the experts, who found three earlier today; but
the finds added strength to reports that a big con-
signment of precious stones was on the plane.
Reports said the diamonds were being sent by the
London Diamond Corporation to American clients.
An expert said the diamonds might have been
scattered when the plane crashed on its side.
It is possible some of the 6tones were trodden into
the soft earth by rescue workers."

Caution, this airport is still open and operating so don't run out into the runway with your diamond siv. But it is in financial trouble and may be closing someday soon due to competition from 3 other area airports.

If the container broke open upon impact, there has to be diamonds scattered all over the place..the problem is they would be real hard to find, unless sunlight angle to make them sparkle. .. it's all about being in the right place at the right time:)
