Well this was my only find. The plate thingy has been shown on T-net a bunch of times. A few think its some kind of belt part some think its some kind of trunk tag or plate.
It's seems that nobody can produce any sort of picture of one in some kind of use. If it were part of a trunk then you would think there would be all kinds of pictures to show.
The larger one I found a while back the small one I found today. Both were found in a area that goes back to colonial times.
The one I found today still shows a piece of leather attached to one of the prongs before I cleaned it.

Where does the hunk of leather come in then ? The prongs are bent in a manner that would indicate that.

I still think Horse Blinker or Harness brass is most likely. The prongs are identical to other horse brasses.

Would you happen to know of a picture of one.

Loads of pictures of horse brasses out there, specially blinkers, I have a few, they are just not identical to these other than the size, cut off corners & multiple prongs.

I looked at a bunch on the net but could not find anything that looks like the photos above. Where did you find pictures of them if you don't mind me asking.

Yep, read them long ago. Trunk plate, cross belt plate. This, that, the other thing. Hard to believe that ( for example) that with all the trunks that are still around, nobody can find a picture of one used on a trunk.
here is the thread of the first plate/tag I found.
