Done a little hunting in this hot weather we are having here in Georgia at a calvary camp in Calhoun. Found a small colt pistol bullet and what I believe to be a lead casting bar. I have looked at several of my relic books and can't seem to find a maker that match's mine. I was wondering what some of the makers names was that you find on some of these bars. Any info will be greatly appreciated, thanks Jonathon.

Congrats on a neat find. I don't believe I have seen one posted before.

I received this info just awhile ago from Jim Thomas a civil war bullet expert who has wrote several books with his brother Dean. " Your lead bar originally was marked, "James McCullough N.Y." and was from the McCullough Lead Company of New York City. This company also supplied tons of bullets to the Watervliet Arsenal during the war. See "Round Ball" Part 3, page 384-85. ''

On my piece of the bar it has the letters Mes Mc Cu , sure am glad I found the info on this piece.

the way they survived was amazing. talk about self sufficient.you gotta love these time machines!

Jonathan....That is a very cool pice of history, you should be proud to have that in you posession.Don't see those everyday,as a matter of fact it's the first one I've seen on here......Great recovery....I Love It!!!!!!

Thanks civilman1, I am very happy to have dug it,and even more happy to have the info on it. Any time I can get out and find a little Civil War stuff makes my day.
