Found an old ranch house site a ways out of town. By the type of nails scattered about it looks like it was a late 1800's ranch to begin with, then possibly a later house built on the site, then later used as a hunting camp. It's a really pretty place and very peaceful. Unfortunately, the inhabitants had the usual habit of throwing all their tin cans about the place and fragments of rusty can litter the soil everywhere. Very hard hunting indeed, and just no way to pick it all out. I did manage to find some cool stuff, but only 2 coins; a '62 penny and a rusty old '43 penny. My buddy got a few wheats also. The cars are cool, too bad the cattle like to hang out here. 22feb21hunt1.jpg22feb21hunt2.jpg22feb21hunt3.jpg22feb21hunt4.jpg

A Rusty '43 penny ...?!
WoW!
That kind of metal usually gets discriminated-out,
when I hunt...!
PLEASE tell me that you found it with your Simplex...!
My new Simplex should arrive tomorrow, can't wait...!

You have a good spot! I have an old farm that I've worked for 10yrs and I still find things!

Yep, the Simplex, but I had the discrimination set very low so I could thin out an area of all the square nails to have a chance to see a coin. I planted a fresh quarter about 4 inches down and the Simplex couldn't pick it out of the trash until I removed 5-6 nails from a 1 foot circle around it. That's using the 5x8 coil.

Awesome, I especially like the ring pulls.....:laughing7:
any resemblance to the “Detectorist” is purely coincidental..:icon_thumleft:

Sure looks like a good time. May there be some silver in the next hunt!

What hunt/mode setting were you using..., and how high was sensitivity setting??
Maybe some good reason you couldn't find the quarter.....
My new machine should arrive TODAY...!

I tried all modes and various sens. settings, my friend couldn't find it either with his ATpro, and he's a seasoned detectorist. Just too much iron overwhelming the machines I guess.

I suppose I'm going to have to clean up all that iron before it's over. I'm sure there's a good ol' privy somewhere around there to dig also, if I can figure out how to locate it.

Beautiful! Love the toy cars! May be “manoil” company.

What a beautiful scenic looking site, the toy cars and the pocket watch frame are decent finds.
If you took your time you could probably straighten out the the toy car bodies to at least make them displayable.

Thanks for the info on the Simplex, I've been thinking about getting one as a back-up to my Deus.
I see Nokta also offers an HF coil for this unit, I just might have to buy one of those as well to 'hear through the iron'.

sweet cars, thanks for posting

A real sweet spot, for sure...!
I always think/know that there will be more there, just use a LOT of patience to find it all...~!
