Its all I intended for today. Just a nice couple hour walk on a very nice day. Occasionally, a find or two. But those solid minor tones just wouldn't leave me alone!

Oh well, I've had worse days. ;)

BTB, The Crotal bell tinkles again! I wonder how long it had been between? :icon_scratch:

Thanks for peeking!

Your crotal bell is one of the nice, older ones!

Yeah, it is! There's a bit of design left and on the very top of the stem, it looks like a character or two is hiding there. I'm trying to bring it out.

This thing was almost a foot down and still rang up true.(no pun intended).

Its fun to get one of these whole and then find that they still jingle once the dirt is cleaned out.

Thanks!

Nice!!!! Congrats!!!!

Really like the Crotal bell. Glad it got to tinkle again. Ahhhhhsome!

Beautiful Crotal bell, congrats! :occasion14:

Very nice finds, Congrats!

Thanks for the compliments folks!

Thought you'd like to see it all cleaned up. Came out very nice IMLLTHO.

The 2 pics of the stem are flipped 180 degrees. Trying to show what I thought were characters. Maybe better eyes can see. :dontknow:

Thanks again folks, my best one in half a century of looking. Not gold, silver etc. But...a personal, plain and simple banner find. (For me)

Sweet no.1 crotal bell you dug. It's so cool to bring one back to life.
If you do a Xmas tree tie a little ribbon on it and it's a great way of bringing cheer by hanging it.
Congratulations on your little treasure.

That crotal bell is a sweet find my friend, crotals are one of my favourite relics to recover.
Yours cleaned up very nicely, probably from a horse harness string.

The 'marks' on the top of your bell are casting marks, I had to take a second look at them as well, as it almost looks like a date.
I remember finding one years ago that had the makers initials stamped into the top of it.

I find a lot like the bells below in my part of the country.
Dave

Congrats that's a nice find. Good clean up job too. They all are going to be dancing to the music, ding a linging, soon. Great walk hope the weather stays nice for ya.

WHADI I am torn between being happy for you and being jealous. LOL I have been wanting to find one ever since Bill said I found a piece of one. Very cool find! Okay I am happy for ya!

Wow whadi.....that's a real nice one !! Too cool !! Congrats on that nice walkabout !!

Nice job. Bells are weird, I never find them and now I dig them all the time. All these came from the same militia camp this year. They are one of my favorite relics to find

Hey Whadi... what an absolute awesome specimen of crotal bell you saved!! You may remember the one site where we recently uncovered over a dozen Large Cents, well that field was full of crotal bells (and this guy didnโ€™t find ONE)... But anyway, Iโ€™ve got a bell almost identical yours I found about five years ago and it ding-a-lings so nice and I carry it with me everywhere. The detail on yours is nicer than mine itโ€™s a real gem! Congrats Whadi!! Ddf.

Nice finds Whadi. Its always nice to pull the Crotal Bells out of the dirt.
