After 7 years I finally got the axe

[Iron Patch]

Hunted many early sites and knew some day I'd finally get a decent trade axe. Need some cleaning but is now officially off the list. Heavy sucker too.

It was a bottom of the 9th, 2 out, full count, find. Make that 2 & 2, I still dug a few more holes.

I don't consider most axes I find as a good find but one that dates 1730-1760 is much better.

That's a great find! These were the workhorses of clearing out trees to build homesites and settle this country. Excellent relic there!

Thanks. To answer both who asked the age, the site dates about 1740 or 1750 and so did all the finds.

Cleaning will be electrolysis, not sure how I will coat it.
