Wow, what an amazing short outing that was. We were only out for 2.5 hours & I had all 4 of the Roman silvers. That might be a record in itself.
We gridded on from where we left off & the signals were everywhere. I was happy enough with the Marc Anthony, but when the odd looking Republic popped out, I knew I had a new record. This coin of Quinctius beats my oldest by 54 years. It must have been in circulation for over 150 years before it was lost on this early Roman Site! I'm just glad it wasn't too smooth to ID.

23 Roman Bronze Coins
17th C Button & Hunts Button (Boar head)

1 silver plated coin of Postumus, 1 dedased one of Gallienus.

Denarius of Quinctius 112/1 BC - :headbang:Bust of Hercules/ Two horses left, naked rider on the nearest horse, rat below. Not sure what the rat story is!?

Cheers, I never thought I would get one, or if I did, not one over 100BC +

Simply a killer find for UK. Even here with the earlier occupation it would be killer. Imagine a coin this long is circulation and still IDable....

just so hard to imagine a coin that old, you are a tiger with the detector. Well done and congrats Sir

Cru,
Outstanding finds including this one:
Mark Antony. AR Denarius, 32-31 BC. Obv. ANT. AVG. III. VIR. R.P.C. Praetorian galley right. Rev. LEG IV. Legionary eagle
Don.......
PS: Sorry about the size.

Awesome!!! Congrats!!! I can only Imagine!!!!

Awesome finds, Cru.

AMAZING HAUL! Congrats on your oldest Roman coin. You have my oldest coin beat by roughly ......2,000 years LOL

Unreal ! Amazing piece of history saved ,that is one detailed coin I love the club over the shoulder. Without a doubt a banner find . Thanks for sharing

Congrats on the PR! Amazing coins!

Amazing! Yeah, I found a few pull tabs and the back of a 2 piece button the other night...lol You are killing it as always Cru!

THANKS ALL.

It's just sinking in as I only have 1 coin in the collection of any type which is of a similar date. A Cantii Potin 100-120BC. So depending on when that Celtic coin was actually minted it's either my oldest coin ever or 2nd oldest! These cast tin Potin are a Kentish Tribe (First to Mint in the whole of Britain) & the Tribes in my area didn't mint coins for nearly another 100 years. So it would be near impossible to beat this coin, other than with something Greek, or another older Republic!
