Got out for a few short hunts and dug a wide variety of items. A few non-metallic things as well. The 1864 Half Dime is one of my favorite finds- the condition is very nice.
I can't forget to include you in the accolades. Your coin is the third Liberty Seated half dime/dime posted today on T-Net, all in terrific shape. Congrats!
That is a smoking half dime, bub. You just can't dig one in nicer shape out of the dirt.
I often see "post war" used on the forum to describe military items found in the South and dating to post 1865. I think of the 1865-1877 period in the South as the era of Reconstruction. The Federals didn't just pack everything up and go home in 1865. They maintained occupying troops to enforce Federal rule over the southern states. So, even though the button isn't from the Civil War, it could still have a lot to do with the Civil War, and a very important part of your local history.
