I found this cross in Presho, South Dakota while pheasant hunting this fall. I have found other images of replicas that are very similar, but not a match.
Front side says, "Jesus Nazarenum".
back says..."Father forgive them" and "Behold this heart which has so loved men". Also a small star. No other makers mark or stamps. Found in the area of a 100 y/o hotel that burned in the 50's.

Any guess on age? Thinking its brass...thanks image.webp

Hmmmm, maybe God wanted you to find this.:icon_king:

I think that cross was once attached to a rosary.
It is a cool find but I don't think it is a rare artifact.

I would say the age is "old", and its a great find.

Excellent finds! :occasion14:

That certainly is a very ornate cross.

congrats nice find

As ornate and beautiful as it is, the cross appears to have once also held a Jesus figure.

Oh wow! I think your right! It most likey did, I just noticed the marks that would have held Jesus....I thought the marks were burned on junk from the fire it went through!

That's a good sign in my book Thanks for sharing it!!!!!!!!

it has the "blessed heart" commonly found on Jesuit sect catholic items ...most likely it once had a Jesus figure soddered upon its front and would have been attached to a rosary ...if the hotel burnt down in the 50;s its likely a item left in the hotel during the fire ..so it pre dates the fire ...with the style it looks from about 1900 to 1930's to me
