After work i was able to hunt my French site from the early 18th century for about 1.5 hours. Started in an area i dug many musketballs in. Tried TX3 on the XP and started digging some deep faint signals. Ended up with 2 musketballs, a little pottery, and what i think is part of a very old sword. I found a photo of an old french sword online and the piece i dug looks very similar to part of the handgrip in the photo. What do you guys think.?? If it is a sword piece, then another piece i included in the photos could also be the same thing. The other piece i included i found a while back, but ive always suspected it could be part of a sword. Anyhow i had to leave for a minute due to my buddy having to go home for a minute. He just called as im typing, so were heading back to the site now...... Oh, and the pic with the red background is the pic i found online....

Congrats on a very nice find PBR. It sure looks like it could be a sword grip to me, but I'm wondering about the material yours is made of. It doesn't look like brass. Do you think yours was made from a base metal, perhaps plated? Will be interested to hear what others will say.

Look like it could be a very old fence post topper to me. I did a (bad) digital reconstruction of it.
