I now believe this hill was a Bronze Age Metal working Site. I've found lots of larges pieces of bronze metal workings (pictured just todays ones) & broken pieces of Bronze Age Axe. (ready for the pot)
We know its not Iron Age or Roman because we know what to expect off those types of Metal working areas.

6 Roman Coins
2 Roman Steelyard Weights
Buckles
Medieval Purse Bar bit
Bronze Age Socketed Axe (piece)
Stunning, near complete Saxon Small-Long Brooch - 6th C AD.

They are a European find, rarely found in the UK, & they are not made of lead. I have no idea if the Lead cross is something or part of a left over mould.

Wow, that small long brooch is another killer find! Great! :icon_thumleft:

Nice finds, Cru. Congrats.

Yeap, well happy with that after gridding a whole bunch of nothing.

Roman Coin picture added to top.

What you have there is a field that has had human activity for a very long time, surprised you haven't found flint or stone artifacts....lovely brooch.

I've picked up a few flint wasters but no good scrappers yet. I've been keeping my eyes open for them & they are surely there.
