Relic Hunting
Went out for a hunt today with my Relic hunting buddy.
He wanted to show me how deep he has been pulling minnies with his Fisher 1270.
He beat me on the minnies as I only dug one today.
He ended up with 6 deep .58's and one .69., He also dug 2 small complete CW GS Eagle Buttons.
Fortunately I was able to save face by digging 4 British Flat Buttons and a small buckle.
My second British Royal Navy, 2 Plain Flats (one Large gold, and one small silver gilt), and a ball button that has a crown and says XIV LD below it. After a short google search I believe this means British 14th Light Dragoons.
Online Database of Early British Military Buttons
Also dug a small buckle that appears to be missing the tongue/shank. Assuming British 1812 ???
Also dug some caps and camp lead, one piece looks like it might be carved.
Dug a strange item with 3 slits that kind of reminds me of a harmonica reed, any ideas :dontknow:
If anyone can help with id's it would be appreciated.
Was a nice day 8-)
HH
UPDATE: Forgot to mention my buddy also found a nice complete Knapsack hook.
The backmark on the large Gold gilt button says Treble Gilt Gold Stand Colr with crown.
The Royal Navy reads Treble Gilt Colour.
The Ball Button Says London, cant make the rest yet.
The one Minnie I did find has a high base-ring, which is the first for me from this site.
I think Steve in PA just Id'd the 3 slitted object as a Neck Stock Buckle

Nicely done! I think your 3-slit thing MIGHT be a reed to a concertina maybe?

I think the ball type buttons, are dress buttons, rather than combat. Your ID is correct.

Great Hunt, I need to get in on some of these!

Nice finds, the piece with the 3 slits is from a neck stock buckle.

Thanks for responding Parson. I looked at a concertina. funny looking instrument. The reeds I saw online didn't look the same.

Thanks for responding Crusader and thanks for verifying. Interesting to know about dress buttons.
I found one other smaller ball button from this area with no markings. I was considering Cadet or Zouave.

Thanks for responding Steve. That sure looks like it could be it. I just had to do a search to figure out what a neck stock buckle was.
