I finally joined the 1700's club!

I went back to the park that gave me an 1809 Half Cent and was hoping to find something good. Low and behold, I found my oldest coin to date! It is a 1787 Connecticut Draped Bust (facing left)! I really didn't think it was a coin because it was fairly thin and not perfectly circular. I was so excited when I saw a letter on it when I brought it home and started cleaning it with water.

Very nice but I'm a little envious.

Now that's what it's all about, funny how one simple coin turns an entire hunt into a great one!
I love when I make a great find right off the bat, kinda say who cares how the rest of the day goes.....

Great digs!

Very cool coin! I have only 1 1700s. Great job!

Dang that's pretty cool, I'm jealous of y'all east coasters, rare large cents for me are daily finds for y'all. Congratulations on your great find.

Congrats on a great find!

Congrats on breaking into the 1700's club, firsts are always the best.

I would make sure I checked every sqaure inch of that spot with finds like that.

Excellent recovery! I wonder how rare it is to find a Connecticut copper so far south?
