Large Cent (Draped Bust) pocket spill! (4 Coins)

I was headed to my usual MD spot this morning when I discovered that I had no access to it (multiple sporting events going on). I drove around for a bit until I remembered a wooded area I wanted to try. These were my first 3 signals, found within minutes of when I arrived. They look like Draped Bust cents but I haven't attempted any cleaning yet (I don't use chemicals, but I haven't even really brushed them off yet). Regardless of the dates, they're my oldest coin finds to date. Very excited to go back!

:headbang: Update: 4th DB found at this site! Picture added in post #42.

Wow! The center and right ones definitely appear to be DB's. Hope the left one is also. Good call on your site. Tremendous spill!

I just checked your profile and saw you and I use the same detector AND pin pointer, lol. I am a Dave also BTW. Pretty cool!

Great hunt, nice coins!

What a find! I hope your spot keeps on giving you cool stuff like these!

I'm not sure if I've ever seen anyone post a multiple DB find from one hunt , that's gotta be pretty rare ! Very nice.

unbelievable! I can't even begin to imagine finding all of those at once

Schweet diggs

Thanks guys. These are my first pre-20th century coin finds.

The only change I think I'll make when I go back is switching from the 5x8 coil (which I used today) to the stock coil. There's too much ground to cover and I could probably use the extra depth (even though these gave off pretty good signals at 8").

Amazing finds! Hopefully you can get some dates off of those.

Any thoughts on safe ways to clean these? I was a coin collector long before I got into MD'ing, so I know what not to do (no baking soda, vinegar, etc) on coins like these.

Dear Lord that's awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

welcome to Tnet, great score on the large cents, hit that spot hard,,

Congrats on your trifecta! Draped Bust ANYTHING's are sweet!

First off, try using a toothpick. You'll be amazed at what you can get off old coppers by only using a wooden toothpick to scrape. It will not scratch the coin or harm it. Don't worry about being gentle. The wood is more forgiving than you think.

This is the only one I can sort of get a date on so far. Some gentle surface cleaning, through magnification and with oblique lighting (left to right). Looks like 180(not sure):
