Re: 100 year old Washington state logging camp finds

Very nice selection of finds! Congrats!!

Re: 100 year old Washington state logging camp finds

Very Nice.Seems like you have a sweet place to hunt.Best of luck when you get back out.

Re: 100 year old Washington state logging camp finds

love the saddle ring and the saw, congrats on a great hunt.

Re: 100 year old Washington state logging camp finds

That gun is stellar!!Looks like the boys had some visitors of the opposite sex!!

Re: 100 year old Washington state logging camp finds

Love the old pipe bits. The top one looks like it might be Irish in origin... maybe a Peterson bit?

Re: 100 year old Washington state logging camp finds

Haha! Not the kind of visitors that you would expect. The camp had some family homes and I was able to find where it was. The Prussian silverware and the perfume bottles came from that spot. Thanks all for the comments. It makes pulling all those nails seem worth while.

Re: 100 year old Washington state logging camp finds

The top pipe piece is translucent with a cherry amber color...the pipe is threaded and might be celluloid made to look like amber. That's my best guess.

Re: 100 year old Washington state logging camp finds

It's strange that you did not find any tools or other iron pieces other then the saw blade. Around here the woods and camps have so much iron that I leave most of where I find it and only bring out the good iron. The last 2 times out I found 16 double bit axe heads at 2 different locations and left them as they are very common here. Keep digging, the good iron has got to be there.

Re: 100 year old Washington state logging camp finds

I agree with the double bits being common. Most of them are heavily rusted, but the conductivity reads of something more like copper...must be a mix of iron and other metals. Other common iron finds include wood stove pieces and railroad spikes. You never know though. I found the Winchester before knowing how to discriminate iron from other metals...might not have bothered to dig knowing what I know now!

Re: 100 year old Washington state logging camp finds

What a great post!! This shows that not everything cool is in the east. Well done!!

Re: 100 year old Washington state logging camp finds

I like those finds. Your comb is a lice comb, quite unusual find. Tennessee digger

Re: 100 year old Washington state logging camp finds

Thats some killer finds :headbang:

Cute dog ::)

My dog is my hunting buddy :D

I think that camp is much older than 100 years..

Re: 100 year old Washington state logging camp finds

Thanks blaze. Can't go hunting without my lab. The camp is in fact 100 years old. My grandfathers worked for the logging company and knew about the camp and where it was once located...which happens to be on the property were I grew up. Sure wish I could visit with my grandfathers again. They would have gotten a kick out these items I'm sure.

Re: 100 year old Washington state logging camp finds

Oh man, do you have a sweet site! That's the type of locale that we could find out here in Denver.
Love seeing all the killer East coast stuff, but I just ain't gonna dig them good, really old relics.
The turn-of-the-century relics are what I love to find.
Never heard of Prussian silver, have to research that next. You gotta go back, guarantee that you'll dig up a token or two.
Detecting tokens is what keeps me from doing vile, horrible things.
Kudos!
Carl
