Headed out late today around 1 for a hike to my new cellar..

Man the woods were a mess from hurricane Irene :o

What a challenge its gonna be hunting these cellars now...Not good for the lazy ones alot of branch moving :laughing7:

Started off with an insane colonial buckle frame i think is a womans..

Then i got what looks to be a Virginia halfpenny that was counterfeited into a large cent sort of.. :icon_scratch:
It has the man on the front but it has kind of a draped bust wreath and it says one cent backwards :laughing9:

I dont know man its a strange one :laughing7:

Then i grabbed the poor old farmers silver pocket spill and shield nickle..

The half dime is an 1859 o and my first ever :hello2:

Then the seated liberty dime 1875..

1798 Draped bust large cent :headbang:

Cool little button

A 1600's stirrup buckle.

Man i had a good day out there and was only there less than 3 hours ;D

When the vegetation clears im gonna pound it to death :evil6:

Wow!!! Those are some awesome cellars you got there!!! :notworthy: I've never seen a copper converted into a large cent, definitely a strange one there. All in all, those are some great finds and I'm waiting for you to show us more... :headbang:

Awesome hunt!!! :headbang: :notworthy: Congrats on all those goodies!! Yeah definitely go back and pound that place to dust wen the veg dies down!
Unfortunately though I think your 1775 seated dime is a counterfeit because I can find it anywhere in the red book.... :tongue3:

Great finds Blaze :icon_thumleft:, could the buckle be from a mans shoe?, it seems right for 1700's, shape and all. Having said that, maybe for a womans hair piece. I'll have a look in my books

I know, just messin with ya  Don't mind me, my truck has been in the shop all weekend which equals no detecting and I'm out of :coffee2: :(
Seriously though, keep it up man! Colonial hunts are where it's at in my book!

Sure wish we had some old cellars like that around here. Great bunch of finds, congrats!

Matt

I would say you had a great day! You found a Woods Hibernia copper. :headbang: Wow, what a site! You must pound that cellar hole in all-metal mode and not let a beep get by your sweep. ;D

Kirk :hello:

Very interesting find. It is a Woods Hibernia and I added a pic showing the harp... but it could have been a Rosa Americana. (same or at least very similar bust/legends). What happened was for some reason an early one cent was struck into it. Pretty cool.

If only the One Cent had been correct and no Hibernia reverse you would definitely be collecting a nice check for it. But even so, that is very cool.
