Some in-depth study led me to a nice spot this evening. Dealing with corn stubble but had some pretty good results. I included a picture of the boot pistol barrel with one I found a couple years ago. This one is a larger caliber than my other one but they seems to have some of the same markings on them. The 1/2 penny token is one that I hadn't seen before and was pleased that the dates on these range from 1824- 1827.
I could use some help from you relic experts. If you look at the top left of the first picture, could someone tell me what those rings are? I seem to find them on a lot of the old sites. Also, at the top right of the same picture, I found what looks like part of a harmonica reed except for the fact that it is pewter. Is this a harmonica reed or another kind of an instrument part? There is also a piece of brass in the same picture that is the shape of a fish, no markings on it of any sort. Last but not least, does anyone know what the piece of iron is or what it might have been used for? Thanks for looking.

Those brass rings are from parasols (bumbershoots). They held the "ribs" (the wires that forced the cloth part up when you opened it). The wooden shaft of the umbrella went down through the hollow center of that piece.

Pistol barrels made by Liege  great finds.
Iron piece looks like a half of a bridle bit.

wouldn't it be neat to find all the pieces of a musket and put it back together...a friend of mine here found 2 musket barrels along with some parts...

Great finds Wallhangers

Holy great finds Batman!!!! Congrats Wallhangers. It's nice to finally know those round things are from umbrellas.

Very nice outing! I'm sure that spot will give up more interesting stuff next time

Nice job on the research, WH :notworthy: That's what it's all about. That boot pistol barrel is sweet, too. I wonder if the rest is still out there in the field somewhere ??? Plowed fields over the years can drag items far from where they were at originally. Pound that area some more. It might turn up ::)

Buckles, thanks for the ID with the drawings, I wouldn't be surprised if I have found 50 or more of those over the last few years. You have helped me ID quite a few things in the past...again, thanks.
HillBilly, I have seen pics of these guns before but those are some great pics. Putting one of those back together would be a fun project.
Thanks on the other comments as well. This was a situation where everyone has assumed they have been hunting the original house site but it was actually moved just a very small distance. So small that it was hard to tell the difference from just looking at the plats. Hopefully it will keep producing in the future.

Great digs!!!A buddy of mine did dig and put together a Boot pistol,I will post pics when I get a chance!!

Thats pretty cool. Thanks for taking the time to post it. I would probably need to have the missing parts fabricated in order to do it, but its still tempting.

Nice finds! HH, Mike

Kuger,

That is a KILLER reconstruction of that little double-barrel pistol! :notworthy:
