Has anyone created a backlight for your Safari?
If you have post some pic's of it and how you went about it.

It would probably void your warranty but quite easy
To add a small colored led . I would do a small LED
like a "smd" for the lowest current drain.

Here's an instructable for a small LCD led backlight.

It's actually a side light to illuminate the plastic .

I don't condone this if your not proficient with electronics
Or soldering of small components.

I fabricated a set of leds for my GMC dash lighting and
My 63 VW gauge lighting and indicators. I do have a background
In component level repair.
You could also put a front led strip light on the hood with ext batteries.
