WOW!!! That's a lot of pipes!

There musta been some awful heavy smokers down there.

I guess you have been busy by all of the pipes and pieces.

That's quite a collection! Very Nice!

Holy Smoke !
The only pipe I ever found was to a water pump.
That is really a large variety. Real cool. Thanks for showing.

That is a lot of pipes.. A lot of broken European Kayolin pipes in the back but those look all Native American in the front.

Right you are there gator. For the most part here on the coast of the Carolinas colonials took over the areas the natives had,& it makes sense why set up on new ground when the natives have already done all the grunt work. Not to mention the areas the natives had were on high ground around the rivers here, already cleared & being farmed,& in spots were the resources were easy to get at.All the ones in the front came from native sites I hunt to me there is no doubt the natives used them because of where I found them. There are a couple though in the front that make me scatch my head.Because other examples of them were made or traced back to some of the first colonial pipe makers here in America.Such as the Robert Cotton style pipe in the very front & others that look a lot like emanual drew style pipes. But even all my reading they still not sure who these styles came from. Now I know were mine was found but does that mean the natives copied the colnials or did the colnials copy the natives on these pipes?????? One thing for sure on the couple in question for me though is that they are some of the earliest of that style being made & would date back to contact here on the coast which would put them late 16th early 17th century here. The others in the front no doubt being native all the way to me.And have had people date them to several hundred years before contact.
For those interested heres some sites on the subject showing these style pipes....

Nice bunch of links.
Could you take the time to post a few closer photos of the kaolin ones?
I'm just curious how they compare with ones I've found.

I'll take another and post it. There's one bowl w/ a horse's head I'm looking for opinions on.. In the mean time- thanks again for your amazing pics! That's one he!! of a collection ;) Yakker

I only have one. I wonder if it is because I am so far south and contact was brief and violent.
