..and the flame is burning very hot this time!

Hi everyone, I've spent a few years THing back in the 90's, and gave it up the winter of '99. It was one cold dark day and I called up my buddy and sold him my two detectors and he didn't blink an eye. Forked over the cash, and I took the wife out to dinner and a movie.

Roll the film ahead 15 years later and now I am back in full force!

What amazes me this time is all of the new machines and technology. I'm also hooked on this site and the available information. No longer do I have to scan and re-read every issue on Eastern and Western Treasures from cover to cover until it is nothing but rags. Now, my THing knowledge fix can be had at the click of few keys.

My best coin find ever was an old large cent (cant remember the year), which was pierced. I also found a nice silver italian horn necklace, complete. It was about 4 inches down, and fully intact. It cleaned up nice! So that's about it for my history, but now I am happy to get back into it.

Good to be here!

Wel-come aboard and also back to the hobby/sport ... :occasion14:

Welcome to the insanity

Welcome back aboard! Join your local Historical Society as a Field Representative that might open private property to search for coins, trade tokens and relics for that area. Go to the tax office and ask for the old Gov't Survey Plats and scan them for old settlements, pioneer farms, ect., cross Reference on a modern map, look up owner, contact with Historical Society membership card and get permission. Get a bottle probe and shovel if area is old for old trash pits and outhouse holes for valuable old bottles.
