After looking at 50 or more different types of cases to store or travel with my CTX 3030 I finally found one that I can make work. It is strong enought for air travel, Somewhat waterproof (has rubber seal) 4 heavy duty latches, 2 that lock. The Case is a Plano All Weather Bow Case #108110 and costs about $110 with tax. I will try and upload pictures. I have not added a peice of foam to the top lid yet but it will be done soon. I may make some minor changes but this is how I started out. That is a sweet set up.

Cool. I may have to look into that. Thanks for sharing.

This looks like a great set-up for the CTX 3030. There has to be a huge, untapped market for those who have spent two and a half thousand, plus, on a detector, but who cannot find a case designed for it. The answer is not some cheap, ill-fitting, single-ply nylon zippered bag. I will gladly pay for a quality carrying case to protect my investment. Please keep us updated with your progress in making this case work for you. Meanwhile, thanks for sharing.

Someone asked how the velcro straps are fastened to the case and this is the answer. There are places under the Foam to screw them to the case. It comes with 5 or 6 straps, if you needed more you could probably get more from Plano. I also added 3" foam to the top cover and cut a slot where the screen is to give it more protection and also hold the detector tighter if I were to use it on an Airplane Trip. Its possible I could have used 2" foam on top but I wanted the top foam to Sandwich the detector, shaft and coil to really hold it firmly in place. If I were to take this case on an airplane I might put 2 or 3 mini ratchet straps around the case for added safety. I don't think this is really necessary because the latches have a safety trigger on them so they just won't accidentally pop open and 2 latches have locks. I will also do a little trimming on the upper pad where the Headphones set so the don't move around. I am sure this will be a work in process as I add different accessories to this setup. Really nice. I wouldn't mind having one for my Etrac or GT's even. Like the modifications: seems like it was meant to be a 3030 case!

Very nice! I have seen several guys mod gun cases like this but this one is the cleanest install.

Looks like that will work nicely for air travel. Will it take a beating? You know how those airlines like to throw stuff around.

Very nicely done! With lots of extra room for the accessories and other implements. I'd think this would do well for a lot of my other equipment in the garage to be honest. The cases are really like storage porn. It's just so gorgeous to look at when it's kept nicely (yes, I'm a little obsessive compulsive thank you very much). I would actually suggest putting in an additional foam layer so that it can sit in a nice pocket while in storage. Less risky of getting banged up.

Well it seems to only be padded from one side, If you check that into United baggage the way it is, what you would get back would be indistinguishable from an Apple IIe......
For $2500 that thing should be made out of carbon fiber and fold or telescope to the size of a hatbox.....

(See Garret ATX, also waterproof to 10")
