Several years ago our school bought up and demolished a half of a city block of houses to make way for a new school building. Most of the houses dated to the 1920's and 30's, and one used to belong to my great aunt many years ago. As soon as the houses were gone, I searched the yards several times before the dozers were brought in to level the dirt. Among a few old coins and whatnot, I found a 1979 Rush Springs, Oklahoma class ring. After a little asking around I was about 99% certain of the owner. Always meaning to contact her and then forgetting off and on, the ring got put away in a box of other finds and for the most part forgotten until today. I went to the local dollar store for a few items. She is the store manager and happened to be the one to check me out. Not wanting the opportunity to slip by again, I went home and dug the ring out and went back to the store. Confirmed the name and class were a match and presented it to her. The look on her face was priceless. She told me that she had once lived in the house that sat where I found it, which just happened to be the same one that my great aunt owned many years ago. I was glad to have finally been able to present it to her after finding it several years ago. I did get a big smile and a hug for it. Sorry there are no pics, I'm a cheapskate and don't even own a cell phone.
