Hit up a new spot tonight and had a great hunt! Literally stepped out of the truck and got a solid dime hit and ending up pulling the sterling (stamped on the back) St. Christopher pendant! UPDATE just did a search for the name engraved on the back and I will be returning it to the owner who lost it 41 years ago! Awesome! The next target was the flattened thimble it came out of the ground as it's shown in the picture so I'm assuming it is silver but has no marking on the outside indicating that it is (possibly inside?) I was barely able to make out the dime was a Merc when it came out ofthe ground I was near a sidewalk and this coin was cakes with crap and black as could be. I was able to pull a date of 1917 but can't say on mint mark. The Washington quarter was part of a spill containing 2 wheats and a 46 Jefferson it felt great to pull a silver quarter again! The ring is made by the same Uncas company as the sterling and ruby ring I found a few weeks back, I love the color of the stone in this one!

Also ending up digging 2 padlocks a Slaymaker Rustless and the RFD I love digging these things! The Statue of Liberty pin is missing her torch but still a neat find and a pretty neat Girl Scouts pin

Hope everyone is doing well' best of luck and happy hunting!!!!

Nice going on the silvers, the Merc. dime looks like it had some better days.

Thanks guys!!!

Very nice hunt. Congrats on the variety of silver. Well played!

Silver coins, silver thimble, silver pendant, awesome padlocks and some cool trinkets = Awesome hunt, congrats on all the great stuff.

That's a great hunt! Good luck on the medal return. Hope you are well rewarded. Cjon455 dug that same Girl Scout pin on our very first hunt together.

You had a very productive hunt with an interesting mix of finds! Good job on locating the owner of the religious pendant.

some great finds there, I think that thimble is sterling for sure, doesn't look aluminum and just has that look, if you have a way of un-flattening it, the stamp should be on the inside

UPDATE St Christopher medal returned after missing for 41 years

I did not know how to update the title of my original post or find the link to it. A little over a week ago I posted that I had found a silver St. Christopher medal and upon cleaning I noticed it was engraved. Doing a little search online I was able to track down the original owners wife on Facebook and messaged her and was able to set up a meeting with her husband. He was tickled to death to see it again. I asked if he remembered losing it and he said he did. He had purchased it when he was 12 with his Christmas money and then a few months later his parents had it engraved for him (good thing) he's 55 now and lost it playing football with some friends on a Sunday 41 years ago. He thanked me multiple times and said it's crazy how you can be so devastated to lose something but with time forget about it and to see it again absolutely made his year.

I wasn't able to get a picture giving it back to him as we were the only ones there. This is my first find I was able to return and it truly felt great! Happy hunting everyone!

Awesome return!!!! :weee:

Yeap, everyone should do it.

:icon_flower::blob9::icon_flower: Wonderful return day for both you & the guy who'd lost it. He'd probably searched for it soon after he lost it, then had to give up. :icon_thumright: Andi
