Is this some sort of doubling?
I swear that I seen a pic a few decades ago of a DD example that had split serif and notches like this.
Opinions please.

You can come help if you want to lol.
My dad collected up through the 40's-80's.
I have his dad's collection in the bank.
I'm overwhelmed by the quantity.
Explains why I am finding so many variations.
Heck, there is a folder labeled pimples.. Lol. Nothing but die chips on noses, cheeks, etc.

Nice! Now you have a true double! Notice the image on each letter has two ROUNDED parts to it? That's how you tell. You nailed it this time.

Definitely a decent Doubled Die Reverse Variety specimen! Congrats BC! It appears to be the DDR-004 (4-R-II-C) Variety listed with Coneca's Variety Vista (Die Variety Master Listing).

Jefferson Nickel Doubled Dies 1946-1954

I'm glad I revisited this old thread.
The suggested die was DDR-004 (4-R-II-C)
On VV, the doubling is noted on the EPU.
In my second picture you can see a strong spread on United too.

I'm still not very good at this, especially since I tilted direct sunlight through a 14x loupe directly into my pupil!
It hurt.

Thanks for everything I have learned here and elsewhere!
